Role Summary
Rokstone Underwriting is a leading specialist MGA serving the needs of international (re)insurance brokers in speciality lines business. Our brokers have direct access to decision-makers who provide fast decisions and flexible solutions.
As a Rokstone Marine Cargo Underwriter – you will collaborate with the team to develop and underwrite profitable new and existing business opportunities across all Cargo business.
Marine Cargo clients include importers, exporters, manufacturers, and suppliers. We can include protection for cargo transported by vessels, aircraft and trucks and static risks.
Role Responsibilities
Originate, underwrite, and price Cargo business in compliance with the appropriate guidelines and within allocated authority while conforming to best practices and focusing on efficiency in approach.
Maintain and develop Rokstone underwriting relationships to achieve the team's strategic and financial objectives.
Develop and maintain broker and client professional networks to support profitable business origination throughout the network.
Take a holistic view concerning allocated clients by ensuring an efficient service proposition that considers all business opportunities and uses sound strategic decision-making with respect to all aspects of assigned client and broker relationships.
Raise, maintain, and enhance the profile of Rokstone Underwriting within the client marketplace.
Maintain an extensive knowledge and understanding of the operations, structure, and issues regarding allocated clients, including the market environment.
Role Requirements
Bachelor’s degree
Insurance qualifications, e.g., CII (Desirable)
Experience in underwriting cargo business is essential.
Strong focus on identifying client needs and flexibility in developing solutions.
Enthusiasm for new business opportunities and the desire to think innovatively and creatively.
Acts strategically and exhibits an entrepreneurial mindset.
Extensive pricing and underwriting expertise
Impressive understanding of Cargo insurance/reinsurance markets
