We are pleased to announce that we are expanding our specialist capabilities in the United States with the launch of a dedicated Financial Lines platform built around claims expertise, broad coverage and disciplined risk selection.
Led by industry expert James Hebert and based in New York, James joins us following a decade at AIG, bringing extensive experience in financial lines underwriting. His appointment is the start of Rokstone’s wider Financial Lines strategy in the US, with Errors and Omissions (E&O) being the initial focus.
The proposition will initially be written on an excess basis, supported by USD 5 million of A rated capacity from Builders Insurance, with further Financial Lines capabilities expected to develop across areas including D&O, Cyber, Financial Institutions and M&A soon.
Starting With E&O
E&O is the first step in our Financial Lines story in the United States. The proposition is designed to support SME and mid-market risks through a streamlined digital trading experience, while maintaining the flexibility to address larger and more complicated accounts through open-market placement.
At the heart of this proposition is ATOMX, Aventum’s proprietary technology platform. It supports comprehensive quote, bind, and issuance capabilities across multiple segments. This Financial Lines platform is designed to adapt to specific risks instead of applying a one-size-fits-all process to every account.
James commented, “The addition of the ATOMX platform is a real differentiator, enabling us to deliver fast, consistent quote-to-bind capability for SME and mid-market business, while still providing the expertise and flexibility required for larger, more complex risks.”
Underwriting With Claims In Mind
James brings something particularly valuable to the platform - experience on both sides of the insurance lifecycle.
Before moving into underwriting, James spent over eight years in claims. That experience has shaped his understanding of what happens after a policy is written and affords James a distinctive perspective on the post-binding policy lifecycle and on the role that disciplined risk selection and coverage design play when a claim arises.
In Errors and Omissions (E&O) insurance, the nature and complexity of claims can vary greatly, so that varied perspective is crucial. This approach begins with a thorough understanding of the exposure, followed by careful risk selection, providing broad coverage and effective risk transfer when needed.
This puts claims considerations into the underwriting conversation from the outset, rather than treating them as something that begins when a loss occurs.
Ian Anson, CEO of Rokstone, said, “James is one of the most respected financial lines leaders in the US market. His appointment reflects our commitment to investing in exceptional talent and building best-in-class specialty products.”
