Rokstone Strengthens Casualty Division with New Portfolio

At Rokstone, we are always evolving, building and growing with the best talent, the strongest partnerships and the smartest strategies.
We are excited to officially launch our UK-based US Excess Casualty portfolio, a significant addition to our growing Casualty division. Supported by multi-year capacity commitments and the latest data-driven insights, this new portfolio will assist brokers and clients in addressing complex risk challenges directly.
Leading our new venture is Laurence (Larry) Burrows, a widely respected expert in US Casualty with over 16 years of experience. Joining Larry are two exceptional appointments - Ben Baker as Deputy Head of US Casualty and Alex Fitzpatrick as Senior Underwriter. Together, they bring deep market expertise, underwriting precision and the strong broker relationships needed to drive success.
A Growing Force in Casualty
This launch marks a major milestone in our strategic expansion into US Casualty. We have steadily built our Casualty division, expanding lines and assembling a top-tier team. “We have market-leading talent in place, ” says James Potter, CEO at Rokstone. “Each appointment brings a high level of underwriting experience across a wide variety of US Casualty risks, as well as a broad network.”
With some existing US Casualty lines, Rokstone is ready to expand further in the coming months. “We have historically focused on short-tail lines, so this is sound diversification,” added James. “With developing back-year reserves and new reserving rules impacting the market, we believe the timing is perfect to expand our Casualty offering."
A Portfolio Built for the Future
The US Excess Casualty team will work with key partners to develop a diverse portfolio of specialty excess business, drawing on their expertise in Construction, Transportation, Energy and complex Fortune 1000 risks. They will also provide Structured Risk Solutions and craft innovative products to support emerging technologies - from renewable energy to the Automotive and Sharing Economy sectors.
With a commitment to line size discipline, deep market knowledge and flexible, tailored solutions, the team will operate with the long-term stability that brokers and clients need.
The team will primarily operate from Rokstone's Box in Lloyd's, focusing on risks across the US (95%) and select international markets (5%). With a max line size of USD 10m, all business will be sourced through the open market via Lloyd's and London based brokers, ensuring broad access to key partners and opportunities.

Rokstone Builds Momentum in MENA With Two Key Hires

The kind who know their markets inside out, who have sat on both sides of the table and understand how to build something with long-term value. In the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, that belief is driving real momentum, and now, two strategic appointments are taking that pace even further.
