Pioneering Cancer Care: Rokstone’s Newest A&H Offering
The scheme’s support packages and pre-diagnosis prevention are particularly innovative. Cancer research has indicated that 40% of cancers are preventable, making prevention awareness and education on healthy lifestyle choices a vital part of the scheme’s benefit.
After a cancer diagnosis, Reframe’s cancer support team can assist you by developing a personalised support plan. This plan may include: understanding your diagnosis and treatment options (both NHS and private), arranging second opinions, providing advice on how to communicate with loved ones or employers, finding local support groups and offering practical support for child or pet care.
A Comprehensive Support Package
The Cancer Care product is designed to provide a holistic support system for individuals diagnosed with cancer, addressing both financial and emotional needs. Key features include:
Financial Security
A lump sum payout upon the first diagnosis of cancer, covering 95% of all cancer types. This financial assistance helps alleviate the burden of medical expenses and loss of income during treatment.
Dedicated Care Plan
Reframe's team, including a Cancer Nurse Specialist and a Cancer Support Manager, will work with you to develop a personalised support plan. This flexibility ensures policyholders can choose the best path for their specific needs.
Unparalleled Support
The cancer support service will provide you with 16 hours of support over 12 months from your first appointment with the Reframe team. You will be allocated a dedicated team which includes a Cancer Nurse Specialist along with a Cancer Support Manager who will help you with everyday practical challenges.
Preventative Focus
Pre-diagnosis support to promote healthy lifestyle choices and cancer prevention through educational initiatives and awareness campaigns.
Expanding into Niche Markets
Rokstone’s Accident and Health entry into the cancer care market represents a strategic expansion into a niche area that is often underserved.
This product is tailored for individuals and small businesses, particularly those in the younger demographic aged 18-35, who are typically uninsured for critical illnesses. With premiums as low as £5 per month for younger people, Cancer Care is both affordable and comprehensive.
Incorporating Accident, Health and Travel, our A&H division is supported by a panel of A-rated carriers and has a broad appetite internationally across both Commercial and Retail arenas. Darren Delande and Hywel Jones, two of the most experienced and knowledgeable underwriters in this area of the market, take the lead on the launch of Cancer Care.
Darren Delande, joint Head of Rokstone Accident and Health, highlights the importance of the new venture. He said,
“A&H has been a difficult market for brokers in recent years with a lack of innovation and limited underwriters who are true specialists. We are giving brokers more relevant products for today’s world, backed by a global, successful, data-led MGA with a sterling reputation. We are proud to play our part in bringing this vital scheme to market.”
Strategic Partnerships
The product is underwritten by Rokstone, with specialist broker Pulse acting as the Coverholder and Reframe, a renowned provider of workplace cancer support, delivering the product.
Reframe’s collaboration with Unum and successful implementation within Aventum Group’s workforce, further testifies to the efficacy of this support model, which has been refined for over 12 years in the market.
Having spent a decade building exceptional support for both employers and employees impacted by cancer, addressing all aspects of care, at every stage of the cancer pathway, Reframe believes individuals who self-manage their situation achieve the best possible outcomes. Mark Stephenson, CEO at Reframe added,
“This new insurance product will give those suffering from cancer peace of mind at the point of diagnosis when they are suffering high levels of emotional, physical and often financial stress. We empower people to take control of their journey and having access to this product will help ensure they have support at every step.”
While many people typically only consider taking out critical illness cover and life insurance when they get a mortgage, the rising average age of first-time buyer homeownership in the UK means fewer people discuss these critical covers early, leaving them vulnerable.
Ben Broom, Head of Pulse Clarity at Pulse Insurance believes there is an urgent need for such a product.
He said, “Rokstone is a true expert in the medical underwriting sphere with vast knowledge and the size and scale to be a formidable partner for this launch. We are delighted to partner with them and Reframe to launch the scheme.”
To The Future
By addressing critical gaps in the insurance market, Cancer Care offers financial security, comprehensive care plans and excellent support, providing invaluable assistance to people and small businesses facing the challenges of cancer.
This launch marks an exciting step forward for Rokstone Accident and Health as we continue to grow and enter new niche markets with products that offer real, meaningful benefits.
