We are pleased to welcome Sophie Elwood as Class Underwriter to Rokstone International Casualty, strengthening the depth and technical capability of our fast-growing, global team.
Sophie joins us from Convex, bringing 13 years of experience underwriting complex, cross-border International Casualty risks. She has built a reputation for disciplined risk selection and profitable growth - a mindset that aligns with how we approach the market. Based in the UK, Sophie will work closely with Portfolio Manager Sam Wylie, as the division continues to grow internationally.
Built for Intelligent Deployment
Rokstone’s International Casualty division launched in January 2026 as part of a strategic expansion for our global Casualty portfolio. Backed by A rated capacity from Lloyd’s of London, the division provides brokers with long term security, underwriting consistency and global reach. It is supported by an excellent claims function and some of the strongest capacity available, creating a dependable platform for complex Casualty placements.
But that is only part of the story, because in a market where capacity is plentiful, our differentiator is discipline. At Rokstone, we do not chase volume; instead, we carefully build portfolios, combining technical underwriting with thoughtful risk selection and tailored structures that reflect the realities of each jurisdiction. Today, the team brings particular expertise across Canada, Australia, the Caribbean, the Middle East, Europe and Latin America.
Technology and Experience
A key advantage for brokers is Rokstone’s proprietary ATOMX platform. Significantly accelerating service and responsiveness, ATOMX gives our underwriters the tools to move quickly.
Speed and clarity can be the difference between winning and losing business, but only when backed by authority and experience. Our collaborative, cross-class operating model enhances that capability, allowing us to draw on expertise across Rokstone to design innovative solutions for our clients.
With Sam Wylie bringing 15 years of experience to Sophie’s 13 years in the industry, Rokstone’s International Casualty division now represents a highly experienced underwriting team with clear plans for the future.
Confident in Sophie’s capabilities, Sam said,
“As capacity continues to grow across the sector, our challenge, and our strength, is deploying it well. Sophie shares that mindset, and her appointment reinforces our commitment to understanding quality over scale.”
Sam Wylie, Class Underwriter, International Casualty
