Inland Marine Transportation

Overview

Designed for US-based motor carriers, we offer targeted protection for goods in transit, covering direct physical loss or damage under a carrier’s legal liability. This includes Motor Truck Cargo coverage for goods in a carrier’s care, custody, and control, whether on the move, during loading or unloading, or while awaiting final distribution. Auto Physical Damage (APD) coverage is also available for both motor carrier and non-motor carrier vehicles, protecting power units and trailers against physical loss.

Risk Appetite

We focus on fleets that meet the following criteria, with flexible coverage options to match:

  • Owner Operator and Carrier Based fleets with up to 35 power units
  • Minimum 24 months in business
  • Auto Physical Damage requires accompanying Motor Truck Cargo coverage
  • Broad commodity appetite, excluding: Household goods and personal effects, Cranes, Cash and cash equivalents

Coverage and Limits

  • Motor Truck Cargo: Up to USD 1 million per vehicle
  • Auto Physical Damage: Up to USD 300,000 per unit and USD 1 million in any one loss
  • Admitted and non-admitted coverage solutions
  • Motor Truck Cargo minimum premium: USD 2,500
  • Auto Physical Damage minimum premium: USD 10,000

Marine Cargo

Overview

Comprehensive cover for goods in transit, in storage during transit or held as stock awaiting final distribution. Includes protection against physical loss or damage as well as domestic transit, war risks, strikes, riots, and civil commotions.

Risk Appetite

We cover a wide range businesses involved in global and domestic trade, including:

  • Importers, exporters, manufacturers, wholesalers, distributors and project cargo for US domiciled companies across a wide range of industries with annual revenue up to USD 1 billion
  • Broad commodity appetite, but excluding:
  • Fine art and specie
  • Livestock
  • Automobile manufacturers, dealers
  • Fresh produce, meat, seafood, plants/flowers
  • Cannabis, CBD, THC products
  • Trip-Transit risks (unless project cargo related)
  • Perishable Pharmaceuticals (limited)

Coverage and Limits

  • Admitted: Up to USD 25 million per conveyance and / or location, except USD 10 million in the aggregate for CAT perils for storage risks
  • Minimum premium: USD 2,500
  • Non Admitted: Up to USD 50 million per conveyance and / or location, and in the aggregate for CAT perils for storage risks
  • Minimum premium: USD 10,000

Mike Nukk

Head of Marine, North America

Mike joined Rokstone in November 2023 as Head of Marine – North America. He brings over 25 years of experience, most recently serving as Head of Marine – North America at AIG for nearly five years. Prior to that, he spent two decades at Liberty, latterly Liberty Mutual Insurance, ultimately holding the roles of SVP Global Marine Practice Leader and Marine Chief Underwriting Officer. At Rokstone, Mike is focused on expanding the Marine portfolio and building out the North American team.
